Remember that time when you had the option to use an easy luggage storage but instead you chose dragging your suitcase around for the 9 hours layover you had? Yeah, me neither. Let’s be honest – this would be insane!
Luggage storage is one of those things that just didn’t seem to have a viable solution. Each airport & train / bus station is different and figuring out how to drop your bags usually ends up taking most of the time you actually have available.
Don’t be your suitcases’ hostage anymore!
Let me tell you about the Holy Grail of luggage storage.
You know what’s AirBnB, right? Sure, you do! Now imagine Luggage BnB. Yes, it exits. And it’s called BagBnB. It is intuitive, it’s trustworthy, and it’s what we’ve all been looking for on our travels.
What makes is awesome is the simplicity behind the idea which inevitably makes you wonder: How come we did not think of this sooner? It’s as easy as: look for a nearby local shop or bike rental (or other type of commercial facility), book “storage place” for your suitcase there and drop it off. It typically costs around 5 EUR per suitcase*, and is 100% worth sparing you the trouble of dragging it around.
*Costs vary by location so check the website for each city you’re interested in.
Here’s how to use it:
Register on their website ➧ Select the location that fits you best ➧ Book your storage ➧ Leave your bags.
Any specific arrangements you need to do can be directly communicated to your luggage’s host just like you would do with any other booking platform.
Here are the answers to several questions you probably have:
How can you pay for BagBnB?
Credit Card & PayPal. We’re all from the digital age, aren’t we?
How do you know your luggage is safe?
Firstly, only commercial locations are allowed to join the BagBnB network. Unlike AirBnBn where everyone’s welcome to list their homes, BagBnB selected to work with legal entities to ensure there’s a responsible individual at each location. All BagBnB “Angels” (this is how the luggage storage locations are called) are screened by the app’s development company prior to accepting their application to participate in the app*. So, you can rest assured your luggage is pretty safe.
*When I say “app” I mean the website. Forgive my geeky side, but after all this is web app, so technically – I am correct. As for an actual app – I don’t think they have one yet, but I’ll make sure I update this article shall anything change.
What if I’m late or there’s a change in plans?
All you need to do is to contact your “Angel” and arrange the details.
What’s so cool about it?
We rarely go as enthusiastic as it takes to write about an app. But as frequent travellers we know exactly how many times we’ve actually had to compromise our itinerary because there was no available luggage storage around and because out accommodation was far from the airport, etc., etc. We could have, perhaps, selected the option of dragging our suitcases along and exploring a little more, yet quite frankly – that’s just not worth it.
So, when I was told about the BagBnB option the other day I knew for a fact that I have to share this with you. What do you think about it? I would LOVE to have some comments from those of you who’ve tested it already!
