12 things only sisters understand

1. You always have someone to travel with!

You’ve heard people telling you that travelling solo is awesome, but you know well that travelling with your sisters beats solo traveling’s little butt. You never need to worry if there will be someone to take a picture of you at these amazing places you go to; plus, you actually smile at someone behind the camera (and not just for the likes).

2. You can say how awesome you handled something, without it being accepted as bragging.

Not that in modern world many people care if they’re seen as braggarts, but some still do. And these people find it hard to talk about the things they do with others, without it sounding as if they’re super self-centered. With your sister this doesn’t happen to be so: she knows just how cool and genuine you are!

3. You learn that taking someone for granted doesn’t mean you’ll disrespect him/her.

People tend to explain failure in relationships with one of the people taking the other one for granted. When you have a sister, that’s usually the case but it doesn’t mean you don’t respect her feelings and needs. To the contrary – the fact she’s around most of the time gives you the chance to learn more about her and treat her right.

4. Your closet is double!

Red blouse, blue blouse – who cares. If you don’t find something to wear amongst your belonging, there’s always your sister’s wardrobe to borrow from.

5. But sometimes, certain clothes go missing…

Oh well, sharing is caring right? It’s only a coincidence that whenever you decide to wear a particular something, she happens to have grabbed it first.

6. You have someone to talk to at boring parties.

Most of us have been to those events where you really don’t want to be, but you have to be seen at for one reason or another. Having your sister there is like having a life jacket – she’ll always come save you if she sees you’re drowning into yet another boring conversation.

7. You can dress like twins without looking creepy.

You and your best friend dressing the same is something only teenagers do. Two sisters dressed the same can be valid for absolutely any age. After all, it’s easy to decide on a set of clothes if she’s already wearing it – you can tell it looks acceptable without having to try it on and spend hours in front of the mirror.

8. You don’t need to explain yourself.

“I meant”, “I only said it because”, “I need” – you don’t need these sentences with her. She knows. And even if you begin a sentence like this when in a fight, she knows what you mean so you actually don’t even have to finish it.

9. You learn to forgive just about anything.

Those we love are usually the ones that hurt us the most and that is so just because we actually do give a damn about their opinions. So your sister has hurt you and she’ll probably do it in the future. But you learn to forgive because you love her and love cannot live under one roof with grudge. Enjoy this ability to forgive – forgiveness is the best mental medicine there could be.

10. You don’t wonder if you’ll still be friends in 10 years.

Your high school friends may change over the years and you may lose contact with them. Your co-workers are often your besties only while you spend 8 hours a day together. Your sister however, she’ll always be there. 10, 20, 30 years from now – you don’t have to questions it – you will always have a best friend.

11. Someone understands your dirty mind without judging you.

Sometimes people say the dirtiest things ever while meaning something completely different. You bend your head down to hide your smile, then lift it up and see your sisters giggling and looking at you as if she’s trying to tell you “Yeah, I heard that too”.

12. Someone always understands you’re being sarcastic.

You know that lovely feeling when you drop in the best sarcasm line which happens to be so good that people actually think you’re serious? While it is definitely funny it can also be so disappointing! You, of course, don’t have to worry about it: just find your sister’s eyes and you’ll see her laughing with tears.
